As the title says, welcome! this is my very first blog about the wonderful world of style, which we all need, crave and more, so…enjoy.

To start i must say my ultimate motto is: that we are all individuals and it must celebrate so.

With that say, which i am sure i will reprise over and over, i would like to introduce myself:

Ladies and Gentlemen!

Ok,, you gather i love the drama. But yes! But let me tell you a little bit more about myself so you know who yo are talking to, and why i think i can help ou with my tips and i can even break some myths.

My name is Ariel, i am originally from the province of Barcelona, Spain (duh!). I came to the UK with a very big dream and i am doing pretty well. I have my dream job, my dream house and my dream cat. I only have to go a few years more to get my dream lottery ticket and it will be perfect! Now, jokes aside, i have been with the Skye Norman team since pretty much from the beginning. Run by an exceptional lady (which i hope is not reading this) called Skye Norman, who heard about yours truly through a common friend (let’s called her Sue), got in contact with me. I came to meet her and see what and WHERE the salon was, and as history has it, we got on like a house on fire.

Now, i highlighted the WHERE word, and the reason is that I work in two previous salons, for four and nine years previously, which were massive! About 15 stylists working, plus double the amount of clients, plus about 8 juniors.

After fifteen years i was ready to have a little smaller, cosier, cutier salon, so i don’t feel i am dealing with a hundred people a week. So the fact of having this little secluded little salon with everything i need (including Beautician), sounded just great and wonderful.

I cannot go on, without saying how amazingly we were embrace with the local people who embrace us part of the comunity (myself having lived for many years nearby, i was shellshock).

And that’s pretty much the story. I could not be happier with my lovely colleagues (all close friends), our wonderful clients ( not just mine, I know them all) and always super welcoming people which keeps us alive and fresh.

I am proud to say i am so privileged by wonderful clients not only from the area, but also from all over London, the UK and all over the world. WOW! I am so amazed about it all. Corny i know, but fact’s a fact. Thanks!

Getting down to the nitty/gritty, i would say i have in hairstyling hates and loves. I ‘ll say loves are classic Hollywood glamour ( which i found never goes out of the catwalks), and i love avant-gard (can bear boredom, especially for a bi night out). My hates are not many, but just those little fashions which last a season, and co not suit everybody.

So yes; my, i would say trademark is i like to fashioned a look for a person, because we are all individuals and unique, and taylor-made a look for someone base in their life and shape. And by all means we’ll go mad if need be.

Anyway, i shall elaborate in many different issues, some accompanied by pictures, videos, etc. It’s a large subject because there so many individuals and i’ll do my damnedest in tackling every one of them.

Oops! time’s run out, mow i have done the niceties, we shall get to the nitty-gritty about how to make the very best of ourselves. The only way is up! (Yeah, i love good ol’ Yazz).

To maintain your hair for the wedding day use Silhoutte Colour Brilliance Schwarzkoph .

An invisible hairspray with a strong hold which will keep your hair in place whilst retaining shine, very user friendly and not heavy!

Remember to use a tissue to protect accessories such as tiaras flowers

Hoooray!!

I just ran 5K raising money for Marie Curie Breast Cancer UK. Myself and four friends ran in Crystal Palace Park on Sunday just gone in June 2011 and completed the run in 37 mins. I raised £800! It was a very fun day which resulted in us all turning very red and having jelly legs! But all for an amazing cause which we have all been touched or affected by in some shape or form…

1. Keep hair in tip top condition… Hair needs extra moisture and nourishment in order to keep it looking healthy. Try the Absolut Repair By L’Oreal.
2. Choose a style that won’t wilt at the first sign of rain…
A sleek up-style would be ideal where wind and rain are quite likely to play a big part on your day. A good hairspray such as Air Fix by L’Oreal will help hold your style in place.
3. Book in for a trial run…
This allows you and your hairdresser to share ideas and to try out different looks to see which one works the best with your dress and accessories.
4. Have your cut and colour 1-2 weeks prior to your wedding…
This will ensure your hair looks fresh for your wedding day, and will give time for any last minute changes to be made.
5. Make sure your chosen Stylist is available…
Especially the months approaching Christmas are very busy. make sure you have pre-booked your stylist for your big day well in advance to avoid disappointment

Styling for special occasions from 52.00

Tip One: Go natural
on the day of your appointment you try not to have too much product on your hair. If possible wash it the day before and then leave it product free.

Tip Two: Be prepared
Take a few pictures with you of colours that you like and dislike. You and your hairdresser might have different ideas on shades i.e. warm could be interpreted to mean many different colours

Tip three: Aftercare
ask your hairdresser about the commitment involved to achieve and maintain the desired colour. The initial cost may be more than future treatments.

Tip four: Stop and listen
Listen to your colourist. We see a lot of people every day and have a lot of experience of what suits different styles, skin tones etc. It’s a good idea to invest in a few key products to help maintain your colour such as BC Bonacure Color Save range which enhances colour brilliance. Anita also advises that you always ask your colourist to recommend products suitable for your hair type.

Tip Five: Listen some more
Make sure you have a full consultation with your colourist before committing to a new colour and talk to them about what the different options are. They may be able to recommend something that you hadn’t considered which could suit you better. Always remember what suits your friend or looks good on a celebrity in a magazine might not suit you. The final result all depends on your natural hair colour and

Perming has come a long way from since the 80’s big hair perms, Now it’s all about creating soft curl and natural movement.
It is also a great way to create body and lift to otherwise lifeless hair; Perming is a great backbone in creating the slightly more voluminous glamorous looks which are around these days or for creating a more boho indie look..

Wedding Hairstyles And Face Shapes

The oval shape is the most versatile, you can get away with almost anything – lucky you!

Oblong or rectangular face shapes are long and generally slender. Steer clear of wearing your hair long it will drag you down. Also centre partings are a no no as they narrow the face. The key is building upwards and encouraging body.

Round shapes are self explanatory. You need to minimise volume at the sides and build upwards. Side partings or side swept fringes work fantastically as they offset the roundness.

Heart shapes as a rule are wider at the temples and hairline narrowing to a small delicate chin. A side parting helps by creating a slight asymmetry to what is a rather symmetrical face shape. Spanish styles drawn to the side of the nape will create more width to the chin area balancing out the width at the temple.

Square shapes have strong angular jaws with equally square hairlines. You need to pick a style that will soften these edges. Curls are great for this. Avoid styles that add width at the jaw line instead opting for wispy hair around the face to soften the outline.

Triangle is the reverse of the heart shape usually with a prominent jaw line. As with the square shape loose strands around the outline will soften the edges..

On June the 5th I ran the Cancer Research UK Race for Life with my friend Abi and her family. It was such a positive atmosphere with over 2000 women taking part, all running for their own special reasons. I choose to run for family and friends who have been affected by this awful disease. I managed to raise just under £200 and hope that the money goes towards improving treatments and eventually finding a cure.[quote_right]Pamela edwards-Mckenzie[/quote_right]

Make sure your hair has been in for a full M.O.T with your hairdresser. Your hair will be alot easier to deal with and you will get a better result if it is in top conditon. Check with your hairdresser as to what products you need to style and maintain your look. At this time of year products like the Kerastase Solaire range are a must for protecting your hair and scalp from sun and sea. So many times we find clients returning from holidays with straw like hair and fried ends. Two words, PROTECT and PREVENT!

Always check the back of your hair! Where possible position a mirror behind you so you can see what it looks like from all angles. It may take a while to get use to working back to front but it is important your style looks as good at the back as it does front on.

When attempting an up-do on yourself it is a good idea to first secure your hair into a neat ponytail. From there divide the ponytail into manageable sections which you can then, depending on the look you are wanting to achieve, secure into place with good quality hair grips. The key to securing sections is to place a clip over another clip so it forms an ‘X’ this stops the clips from slipping out. There is lots of really good electrical equipment on the market these days. Heated rollers and GHD straightening irons both give great curls and volume. Check with your hairdresser what would work the best for you.
